Module 1

Sources of Business Value

What drives the growth of big data, and how data science and analytics supports the creation of business value. What are the leadership and operational challenges of building out a data-driven organisation. How to measure your organisation’s analytics readiness in terms of people, data and tools. Understand the customer, technical and financial risks of data science and innovation projects, and how these risks and pitfalls can be effectively managed or avoided. Methods for identifying and prioritising business use-cases for data science and analytics.

Module 2

The Process of Data Science

Review of current data science and analytics process frameworks. How to plan and execute a data science and analytics project using the “Jobs-to-be-Done” framework. How to make predictive decisions in the face of uncertainty. Understand time-cost-quality trade-offs in data preparation, the steps to developing, selecting and operationalising predictive models, and the importance of data visualisation. Creating shared metrics to track progress made along the lifecycle – from idea, to validated business case, to business implementation.

Module 3

The Impact of AI

How machines learn from data. Different types of AI learning approaches, and how AI applications are being used by businesses. The role and benefits of AI in a predictive analytics setting. The limitations of data-driven versus strategy-driven AI modelling approaches. Future directions for AI, and how AI can be used to fundamentally transform the data science and analytics delivery model.

Module 4

Working Smarter with Data

Translate business problems into clear objectives and research goals that can be met through predictive analytics. How to prepare, scale and transform data to be AI and machine learning ready. Create predictive AI models without coding. Leverage the power of AI-assisted data visualisation to expose hidden patterns in data, as well as extract and summarise relevant insights for effective decision making.

Module 5

Discovering Unknown, Unknowns

Experience a revolutionary, AI learning framework that helps rapidly discover and predict ‘known unknowns’ and ‘unknown unknowns’ in data. Build and guide AI models to think and behave more like the way humans and businesses do. Expose predictive insights and untapped opportunities that directly align to your business value drivers. Module 6

Communicating and Demonstrating Value

How to communicate results, ideas, experiments, evidence, and progress so far to business stakeholders and executives.

Day 1

Modules 1-3

The Fundamentals


You will learn the foundational skills for being an effective leader or practitioner in data science and analytics. You will gain working knowledge to identify new ways data can add value to your business, and how you can get started with the resources you already have today.

We will cover the data science and analytics lifecycle, as well as key AI and machine learning concepts, such as how machines learn from data.  You will gain first-hand insights into how AI can be used to deliver new organisation-wide capabilities in data science and analytics.


Day 2

Modules 4-6

The Practice


Working with real-world datasets, you will learn the process of deconstructing business problems into data analytics objectives, planning an AI and machine learning workflow, designing experiments, generating results, and communicating insights and findings.

Along the way, you will learn how to prepare, scale and upload your data, how to prepare new features and run AI models without coding, and how to explore and discover untapped business opportunities using AI-assisted visual analytics.

Executive Coaching and Support

In the 3-month period following the Masterclass, you will receive personal checkins with us on a fortnightly basis. This allows you to ask questions and get help on any technical matters relating to the program content. At the same time, we want to ensure you’re realising the full potential of your training investment.

During the latter stages of the program, we will arrange a 1-day on-site visit, where we will work with you face-to-face and provide any additional training or consultation depending on your needs.

You will have access to our state-of-the-art DeepConnect® Academy platform for the duration of the program.

You can easily and securely connect to the platform from the convenience of your workplace, while at the same time we can provide you with live support, delivered remotely. Dr. Gary Deng

Cofounder & Chief Data Scientist

Gary is co-founder and Chief Data Scientist of DeepConnect. He has held assistant professorships at Monash University and Swinburne University of Technology, specialising in spatial econometrics and time-series forecasting. He has consulted widely on matters including crime and policing, population health, telecommunications and tourism.
